Travel Assistance:

The travel office of the MediClin Heart Center Lahr/Baden will, if necessary, assist you in your travel arrangements, such as accommodation reservation and transportation to and from our hospital. Our staff is also prepared to assist you, if necessary at all, in obtaining obligatory visa for Germany.

Accommodation:

There is the possibility of accommodations in hotels and guest houses in Lahr and the surrounding area, or in private pensions within walking distance to the clinic offering bed and breakfast. Apartments suitable for several accompanying family members are also available around Lahr.

Transportation Service:

As previously mentioned, our institution provides own transportation to and from our hospital.  Once dates have been finalized for your admission to the MediClin Heart Center Lahr/Baden, we can arrange for you and for your family members or accompanying persons to be met at the airport and taken to our hospital.  Upon your departure, we will also arrange your transfer to the airport, train station etc.

Interpreter Services:

The MediClin Heart Center Lahr/Baden provides interpretation services in English to avoid any communication problems with physicians or nursing staff during your stay here at our facility.  Most of our physicians and staff members do however speak English.  We can also organize for interpreters in other languages, such as Romanian, French, Turkish, Russian, Arabic, etc.

Faith Related Resources:

2 ministers provide pastoral care in the MediClin Heart Center Lahr/Baden, representing the roman-catholic and protestant church.  Representatives of other faiths and denominations (ie: Jewish, Muslim, Greek Orthodox, Jehovah's Witnesses Chaplain, etc.) are available to patients and families and can be contacted at any time by our staff.  They come along with you on a certain distance of your path through your life and they take time to listen and talk to you.

Meals:

As an in-patient you have the choice between 3 nutritionally well balanced meals, one of them is a vegetarian dish.  Specific attention is however also given to faith related customs as far as your meals are concerned.  Please inform us on any
pertinent details, we will inform our dietician and kitchen staff.

Patient/Family Support Services - Social Work Services:

Our professional social worker at the MediClin Heart Center Lahr/Baden offers a wide range of support and counseling services to patients and their families during their hospital stay, during the discharge planning process and as part of continuing care in many out-patient care practices and specialty care practices in their home-town.  The social worker is an expert in helping our patients to obtain benefits, community services as well as cope with and solve problems related to chronic illness and disability.

Our social worker also provides sources of information and assistance to apply and advocate for government entitlements such as insurance benefits, disability insurance, pension benefits.
