EuroScore provides a method of assessing the risk of post-operative 30 day mortality (chance of survival in the long-term) following cardiac surgery by making use of parameters such as individual preoperative and post-operative diseases and individual findings in a standardized manner. The EuroScore system is based on the data from 19,030 patients collected in 128 cardiac surgery hospitals in 8 European countries.
Please note:
The calculation of mortality according to EuroScore does not replace individual medical advice regarding the risk of surgery and is not intended as an individual risk assessment.
Also, EuroScore cannot provide any information on the level of individual mortality (chance of survival in the long-term) if one foregoes heart surgery indicated as being urgent.
