Our patients come from different regions in Germany and abroad: one third live in the Ortenau region, one third in the rest of the province of Baden-Württemberg and one third in the rest of the Federal Republic of Germany, though mainly in the provinces of Rhineland-Palatinate, Northrhine-Westphalia and abroad. The majority of our patients come from far away to us for treatment.
Close cooperation with referring cardiologists/internists and referring acute clinics is of great importance for us. We keep on-going personal contact to our regional and supra-regional referring physicians in order to provide for efficient communication and exchange of information on reciprocal requirements and patient-relevant needs.
Regular cardiological seminars
We keep in touch with our referring physicians by holding regular cardiological seminars during which topical clinical questions are discussed with our referring colleagues. The exchange of ideas and efficient cooperation with our referring physicians is an important part of the holistic care we offer our patients. It begins not just with the patient’s referral to our hospital, but a step earlier. Once a referring colleague has established that a cardiological intervention or heart surgery is required, the results of the preliminary investigations that have been carried out are exchanged by the most efficient route possible.
24 hour stand-by in the cardiac catheter lab and the heart surgery unit
Close coordination with our referring physicians, an efficient management of the transfer to us and the medical care ‘’back home’’ after surgery allow us to provide optimum care to the patients entrusted to our care. By being on 24 hour stand-by in the cardiac catheter lab (treatment of heart attack patients) and the heart surgery unit, we ensure that our regional and even supra-regional patients receive rapid emergency treatment at any time.
